1 broadband loine - 2 computers sharing . . ?

One house, one adsl line, two computers which want to share the one
adsl line.
Questions - which ISPs allow this? Which ISPs provide the equpiment to
make this possible?
I know that BT Internet offer a homenetwork which seems very good (2
comps connected thur the phone sockets - no need for wires etc) but BT
internet dont offer stuff like email and newsgroups.
Id be very grateful for any suggestions - especially from ppl who
actually have 2 comps networked to use one ADS and can speak from
experienc

apparently not freeserve ,as stated at least twice in their website(check
faq),hence im still looking for a network friendly supplier other than
plusnet

you need a broadband router, which connects to your ADSL modem.

you also need a network card in the PC's.

try and get a router that has a built in 4 port switch .

then use cat5 network cable to connect the pc's to the switch

this is very common, so if you google broadband router you will find
millions of pages.
or google broadband sharing

How the hell are freeserve going to know that you have 2 or more pc
connected via a router to their ADSL service, short of coming to your house
and looking.

They often find out when another member of the familiy calls their
helpline and mentions that a number of PC's are connected. Perhaps
they then flag the account as having more than one PC?

I know bt openworld allow you to, but if you keep it quite you could do it
with any (I think).

unfortunately while common sense sides with you the previous poster is
not posting tosh because many isps and bt especially feel their home
adsl option is for single use only and while thay cant stop you using a
network they can tell if you are because your private ip address is
embedded in the packets if they care to look
