1.25Gbit fiber link to home for 300 pounds.
That is the current cost and international yard stick
to install fiber to the home.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!

Thick shiites @ BT$ (TM) can't deliver anything
like that to you and me.

OFTEL$ the bum buddies @ BT$ (TM) can't do anthing
about that for you and me.

If we had that, we can run massive servers from home
and all the telephony over Trixbox or other
similar system and we would finally have true
liberalization of the telco industry
and a free market that charges 30 pounds a month
for 1.25Gbit and still make profit in less than a year.

munchkins @ BT$ (TM) please flame away.

Depending how long it is since he went in, this change may have happened
while he was locked up with very limited (if any) access to the media / net.

fiber and pounds don't go together.

Fibre to the home in the UK would cost around £600 per home if it was
financed on a utility model and had 100% takeup ie total cost £18
billion.

Its a free market anyone can do this. BT would have to wholesale and
unbundle services if they did it, so "anyone but BT" has the best
chance of economic success (and the lowest chance of actually
happening).

Plain Wrong.

How many times do I have to point out that we have dumb incumbant telcos
that wrongly overcharge customers.

And how many times have those companies and their munchkins (asstroturfers)
came here and insisted that costs are higher to continue charging
excessive amounts.

This is assuming that is the only business model out there.
There is no harm in selling off the exchanges and tunnels
under the ground and letting private contractors install
equipment at the lowest possible cost to themselves and to
their customers.

Thats all we ask for.

Totally wrong. The best chances are actually Hong Kong based
companies, and other far eastern companies given a free reign
to install their equipment in partnership with local companies.

That bit is correct. Oh the foot dragging, oh the dragging feet... oh the
pain of dragging ones feet... ooohhh what a bummer, their draggy legs are
attached to their bums and those bums need sating around for
a little longer,,,,,....

How do we overcharge ?

How much would you charge for the following:
2Mb uncontended connection
2Mb 50:1 contended connection
Fibre to the home - assume 50 metre dig to the nearest cab, but also take
into account all upgrades in your workings.

We dont.
How much do you think a UBR upgrade (per site) costs ?

month ... and show the rest of us how its done.

Do you read any trade press?

1.25Gbit fiber link to home for 300 pounds.
That is the reality of today's international norm
for broadband.
